This
one wasn't too hard, really. First I had to brush those ashes off
Dan's lapel and shoulder using the "rubber-stamp" tool. Then I noticed
a few scuffs on the wall behind the head that needed a touchup (rubber-stamp
again).
Perhaps the toughest challenge was resetting the color balance. It's not that it's hard, it's that Photoshop has so many ways to do things. In this example, you could adjust the color using just the tools in the Image>Adjust menu: Levels, Auto Levels, Color Balance, Hue/Saturation, and Variations. I usually use the Image>Adjust>Levels menu since it gives me the most control. There was an obvious yellow cast to the image, so I decided to use the Image>Mode menu to convert the pic to CMYK format. After that it was a simple matter to select the "yellow" channel and lower its level until the flesh tone looked more natural. ©
